Haplogroup Q is found in Asia, the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East. One of its sub-clades, group Q3 is almost exclusively associated with the Native Americans [78,79]. Finally, the last clade of the Y-chromosome tree is the extensive haplogroup R, which is mainly represented by two lineages – R1a and R1b [64,69,80,81]. The members of ...

Apr 06, 2016 · The Burfords have matches with the Willis surname - it would be useful to get them into the project. A Big Y test for one of the subgroup would help relate the families to the rest of R-S11121. That would be better value than upgrading you and your son's kits to 67 markers or testing them for S11121. Gareth (R-Z198/SRY2627 Project Admin)
Your Y-DNA haplogroup gives you clues about the geographic origin of your direct male-line ancestors. Haplogroups overlap national and ethnic boundaries, and most ethnic groups have several different haplogroups in their populations.
A some point roughly around 1000 B.C. a third clade emerged from the R haplogroup in Northwestern Europe which is being called 'CTS4528'. This is the haplogroup that our Shannon lines descend from. CTS4528 is a somewhat rare and thinly scattered haplogoup, and our Shannon Y-Chromosome appear to be rare within it.
